Several months ago building management modified the main entrance/exit door's electromagnetic locking system. They have removed the motion sensor that previously allowed for automatic egress. Currently, the only way to release the magnetic lock and exit the building is by pressing a touch-sensitive electronic button. The motion sensors have been disabled for many months, which the building claims was to combat break ins. Now to egress you have to push a button to disengage the magnetic lock. The button is not very responsive and offers only a single unlock option which is not "one motion". This appears to violate egress requirements.

The residential apartment building is in violation of multiple fire codes, as discovered during an fire alarm on the evening of 12/07/24.
