The kitchen in the basement short term rental unit does not meet the 2018 or the 2009 mechanical code. This is because it does not have a proper ventilation/exhaust system for the stove and the oven. There is a window above the stove, but this window does not produce a significant amount of airflow to be considered enough for the 2009 code's "natural ventilation" and in 2018 it is mentioned as an interpretation in Section 505 that a window acting as natural ventilation does not substitute for
