Exceptional chestnut tree was cut down this morning with no permit and before SDCI complaint service is answering the phone. The tree was at N 125th and Phinney Ave N on the NW corner. The tree company said it's on private property. True. No permit - I checked with SDCI. Tree company said no permit required. True unfortunately.They said it was not a protected tree because it was less than 30". This in fact was not true. At the trees base it was obviously more than 40"
