Leaky windows cause moisture around the window frames and sills, inadequate ventilation exacerbates the problem. Mold is growing in the window frames and walls and the walls and sills and frames are spongy to touch. The problem has been painted over and mold is growing underneath the paint. Water and moisture and leaky windows, inadequate ventilation.
