Complaint: Land Use
Opened July 2, 2026
Neighbor has a four story home. The bottom two floors are two separate rental units that are accessed via a path on the north side of their building. The path takes up the full minimum 4 foot setback between their home and my property. They have let a plant grow to the point that it blocks the path. As a result, their renters are stepping onto my property each time they go to and from the rental units. The units are rented on a site like AirBnB, and so the renters are new people every few days.

My neighbor's exterior lights, which are either always on or turn on automatically when it gets dark, illuminate off of their property and onto the public right of way, my private property, and other private properties, in violation of SMC 23.44.008.H, which states, "Exterior lighting shall be shielded and directed away from residentially zoned lots. The Director may require that the intensity of illumination be limited and that the location of the lighting be changed."

repeat of 011622-24CP, which i filed in october 2024. sdci found no violation because my neighbor reappeared during the time from me filing and your inspection it seems. but, it is happening again. for weeks a different couple has been living in the main unit, and two separate renters in the other two units, so there are three separate occupants that are not the owners in three separate units and they are only licensed for 2. please inspect promptly and resolve. thank you.
